San Mateo
Located in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula, San Mateo is one of the larger suburbs in the Bay Area. It was incorporated on September 4, 1894 and is bordered by Burlingame to the north and Belmont to the south.
The city of around 100,000 residents has a true downtown area that boasts a large number of specialty shops, small businesses, and world-renowned restaurants. It’s also home to a large 12-screen movie theater which shows first-run and classic movies year round.
San Mateo is also the site of the Hillsdale Mall, located near the 101 freeway. One of the larger malls on the San Francisco Peninsula, the Hillsdale Mall is home to many specialty stores, anchor retail establishments, and popular restaurants.
